Latvia supports political dialogue between EU and Central Asia - Pildegovics

RIGA - On March 5, 2018, Latvian Foreign Ministry’s State Secretary Andrejs Pildegovics, met with the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Latvia, Nazarkuly Shakuliev, who is in Latvia on an accreditation visit.

The State Secretary and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations, cooperation between Latvia and Turkmenistan in international organizations, and the European Union – Central Asia cooperation.

Pildegovics stressed that, in bilateral relations between Latvia and Turkmenistan, it is essential to continue the dialogue between officials and cooperation between line ministries. The State Secretary named the most promising areas such as transport, information and communication technologies, education, and environmental protection. Latvia also supports the expansion of political dialogue and contacts between the European Union and Central Asia, including Turkmenistan.

On March 6, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan will present his credentials to the President of Latvia, Raimonds Vejonis, and meet with the Deputy Speaker of the Saeima (the Latvian Parliament), Gundars Daudze.

The Ambassador resides in Minsk, Belarus.
