Flushing Town Hall Announces 39th Anniversary Gala On June 7

Flushing Town Hall will hold its 39th Anniversary Gala on Thursday, June 7th at the historic Flushing Town Hall, honoring Howard Graf, Graf & Lewent Architects, LLP, 1st annual Creative Design and Architecture Award; President Felix V. Matos Rodriguez, Queens College, CUNY; and, 9P Community Volunteers.

The annual benefit supports Flushing Town Hall's annual arts and cultural programs that serve over 56,000 people annually, city-wide, of which over 18,000 are students, families and seniors. The event begins at 6 PM with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, followed by dinner, awards and entertainment at 7 PM, at 137-35 Northern Boulevard, Flushing. Abiding to its mission to provide "global arts for a global community," Flushing Town Hall, a Smithsonian Affiliate and member of New York City's Cultural Institutions Group, brings to Queens local, national, and international performances and exhibitions that are often seen in Manhattan or Brooklyn, or Europe or Asia.

"This annual event is an opportunity to showcase the value of culture and arts in our community and throughout the borough, and a chance to come together and celebrate remarkable honorees who exemplify the importance of supporting the arts," said Ellen Kodadek, Executive and Artistic Director at Flushing Town Hall.

This year's honorees are: Howard Graf, of Graf & Lewent Architects, LLP, a longtime Flushing Town Hall Board Member and former Board President, who will receive Flushing Town Hall's first annual Creative Design and Architecture Award; Felix V. Matos Rodriguez, President of Queens College, CUNY; and, 9P Community Volunteers.

Flushing Council on Culture and the Arts dba Flushing Town Hall is a not for profit organization which receives major support from the National Endowment for the Arts; New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature; New York State Assembly Member Ron Kim; New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, Mayor Bill de Blasio; Queens Borough President Melinda Katz; Council Members Costa Constantinides, Daniel Dromm, Julissa Ferreras-Copeland, Barry Grodenchik, Peter Koo, Karen Koslowitz, and Paul A.
