Wednesday is the first day the Sanford International is open to the public.

Despite a wet forecast, dozens of people made their way to the greens Wednesday to watch the pros play at the Sanford International Golf Tournament.

Becky Holmes traveled from Hurley, South Dakota, in hopes of seeing her favorite golfer.

“Steve Stricker is my favorite and he’s not here until this afternoon and I love John Daly, I got his autograph at the Valspar so I’m looking to get it again so yeah it’s fun,” golf fan, Becky Holmes said.

One thing on her to-do list Wednesday, get as many autographs as she can.  The rainy weather isn’t stopping Holmes and her friend from achieving that goal.

“We figured we had umbrellas and there were canopies and we wanted to get as many autographs as we could,” Holmes said.

Holmes isn’t the only one checking out the tournament. Pam Swier and her family are getting a glimpse of this golfing event as well.

“I’d like to see as many pros as I can, it will be exciting to see how well they play, the facilities are amazing, they prepped it very well,” golf fan, Pam Swier said.

An opportunity Swier is glad she’s getting to watch.

“The course is in amazing shape and I think it’s just a great opportunity for South Dakota and those who live near by,” Swier said.

The gates will reopen Thursday at 7 a.m.
