Katy Perry Dines with The Weeknd in the New Subdued and Sophisticated Staple for Evening

Katy Perry dined with fellow musician and pop superstar The Weeknd, also known as Abel Tesfaye, last night at Madeo in West Hollywood. And while Perry has often made a dazzling display on and off the red carpet, last night saw the Swish Swish singer take a decidedly low key approach to evening style. Perry, dressed in a beige double breasted tailored coat and neutral tone heels, kept things quietly sophisticated and ushered in the return of the anti-statement, statement coat.

Perry has been working with stylist Jamie Mizrahi focused on sleek silhouettes and unconventional labels (Adam Selman, vintage Jean Paul Gaultier, Rasario) and last night’s ensemble was the off duty version of the artist’s stylistic evolution. The tailored coat, a favorite of actress Angelina Jolie and American First Lady Melania Trump, elevated a simple outfit through it’s streamlined effect. A cross body bag added femininity while oversize hoop earrings were a fun addition. But don’t think that all of Perry’s razzle dazzle is gone. Peeking beneath her coat? A glittering minidress no doubt meant for the dance floor.
