Najeeb Ahmed had no links with ISIS, Delhi Police dismisses TOI report

New Delhi, Mar 21: Delhi Police dismissed the claims made in a TOI report regarding missing JNU student Najeeb Ahmed’s interest in Islamic State (ISIS). TOI, citing sources, reported that Najeeb’s laptop records, after being scanned by the Delhi Police, showed that he was searching about ISIS months before he went missing. Delhi Police denied the claims, calling them untrue.

Decision on polygraph test on March 27

The Delhi court on Monday stated that on March 27, the Court will decide whether nine Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students can be asked by the Delhi Police to give their consent for lie detector test.

The nine students, who are suspects in the case approached the court challenging the notice sent to them by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police asking them to be present before the magistrate for recording the statement that whether they are willing to undergo the lie detector test.

The Court on March 15 reserved its order after the counsel appearing for the nine students stated that “lie detector test is unconstitutional and illegal unless it is voluntary.” The Court was supposed to submit its report on Monday but the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sumit Dass deferred the matter to March 27 stating that the order is not yet ready.
