Mary Barra has made a big step onto Facebook

GM CEO Mary Barra is one of the Most Powerful Women in the world. Up until today, though, she didn’t have a public Facebook account.

That changed today. When Barra visited the Facebook campus last week, she was convinced by another Most Powerful Woman, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, to get on the social network publicly:

Hello, Facebook! After a conversation with Sheryl Sandberg at Facebook HQ last week, I decided it was time to create a page. I look forward to sharing photos, updates and stories with you.

While visiting Menlo Park, I was inspired by all the posters on campus — particularly “Nothing at Facebook is somebody else’s problem” and “Let’s kick the shit out of option B.” What sayings inspire you?

Sandberg responded to Barra thanking her for visiting. Barra has gotten rave reviews in her first year-and-a-half on the job at GM, particularly for her handling of the recall crisis that has plagued the company
