Aaron and The Spell
The Nightfall Concert Series continues its 25th year of great summer musical programming Friday with a headline show by Aaron and The Spell. The local opening act is Function. These free shows are held each Friday at Miller Plaza, now through Aug. 30.
Review for Aaron and The Spell:
With frontman Aaron Brown leading the group, Nightfall’s headliner Aaron and The Spell have established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in a world of new soul. National Public Radio named this Philadelphia artist as one of “10 Artists You Should Have Known in 2012” calling him “an exciting new name to add to the lineage of the city’s expressive and emotionally intense soul singers.” Soul, blues, folk and rock all come together to create Aaron & The Spell’s sound which is tied together by Aaron’s vocals. Aaron’s bold sensitivity as a vocalist and a songwriter has garnered him favorable comparisons to Amos Lee, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke and Ben Harper.
Review for Function:
Nightfall’s opening act, Function, is a funk band fronted by the powerful vocals of Brittany Ammons. This five-piece band combines their own original blend of funk, blues, jazz, rock and R&B. Function’s Facebook page says, "We specialize in bringin’ the noise to keep people on their feet.”
Presented and produced by Chattanooga Presents, Nightfall continues to bring an eclectic mix of music to downtown Chattanooga. Nightfall showcases the local arts community by featuring Chattanooga musicians for each opening act, beginning at 7 p.m., followed by performances by national and international talent beginning at 8 p.m. Beer, wine, food and non-alcoholic drink concessions are available on site. No outside food or beverages are allowed.
