Kalamazoo firefighters rescue 2 dogs from house fire

KALAMAZOO, MI -- Firefighters rescued two dogs from a house fire on Kalamazoo’s north side early Saturday, Nov. 27.

Other than the dogs, the house was not occupied.

Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers said fire crews responded about 6:30 a.m. to the residence in the 800 block of Hawley Street, just off Douglas Avenue.

Firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the front of the residence.

They brought the flames under control within about 15 minutes and rescued two dogs from the house.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
