Judd Nelson is returning to his Billionaire Boys Club roots, as he prepares to take on the role of Ryan Hunt in the movie remake of the 1987 TV mini-series.

Having previously played Ryan Hunt's son Joe in the original series, Nelson will move on a generation in the big-screen portrayal.

The role of Joe will be taken up by The Fault in Our Stars' Ansel Elgort.

Taron Egerton and Kevin Spacey are also starring as tennis pro Dean Karny and conman Ron Levin respectively, while Suki Waterhouse and Emma Roberts will be playing the love interests of Dean and Joe, according to Variety.

The film will tell the true story of Joe Hunt and Dean Karny, who ran a Ponzi scheme in the early 1980s called the Billionaire Boys Club that collapsed after Levin's investment turned out to be worthless.

Hunt and Karny later turned to murder to raise more money to support their lavish lifestyle, until Hunt was ultimately convicted of killing Levin in 1987.

Nelson is best known for his role in The Breakfast Club, which celebrated its 30th anniversary earlier this year.
