OREGON CITY

Oregon City's upcoming

First City Celebration

on

Saturday, July 28th

, in downtown Oregon City celebrates summer with a day-long lineup of musicians, 40 artists lining the center of Main Street, shopping, wine tasting, and downtown dining

.

Main Street between Ninth and Seventh will be closed to traffic along with Eighth Street for the festival from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Event details can be found at

.

"The music lineup for this year's event is a real highlight," said Elizabeth Fowler, First City Celebration chairwoman and volunteer event coordinator for the non-profit Main Street Oregon City. "We're offering a full day of music with an evening concert until 9 p.m."

The First City Celebration Street Festival music lineup, this year extended until 9 p.m., includes: Tumble Rye, Tiffany Carlson & Nicole Wells, Kory Quinn, Jesse Young, Keegan Smith, Will West, the Parson Red Heads and Kurt Van Meter. Music will be at the stage in Liberty Plaza.

This year, the First City Celebration Street Festival is produced by the non-profit Main Street Oregon City with support from Stein Oil, Wildish Construction, Bank of the West, The Oregonian and the Oregon City Civic Improvement Trust.

"A lot of change is happening in downtown Oregon City -- on the street and in our buildings," said Lloyd Purdy, Director of the non-profit Main Street Oregon City. "This event is a chance for visitors to see those changes in process and support downtown businesses."

In previous years, the

First City Celebration

in Downtown Oregon City attracted more than 3,500 visitors, artists from around the region and wineries from the Willamette Valley. This year, as a street festival style event, all those ingredients will be mixed together on Main Street from Ninth to Seventh streets. This event is free and open to the public.

"Mixing arts with food and beverage tasting all in the same area on the street is a recipe for success," said Tonya Meyer, volunteer coordinator for the First City Celebration Street Festival. "This event is a great way to celebrate summer."
