Mother, Son, Thwarted in Attempted Beer Heist In Vernon: Cops

A mother and son are accused of trying to steal beer, toilet paper and cheese from a Vernon store.

VERNON, CT — A mother and son were thwarted in their attempts to pull off a beer, cheese and toilet paper heist on Sunday night at a Vernon supermarket, police said.

The incident took place at 10:30 p.m. at the Price Chopper, located in the Tri-City Plaza shopping center.

It was a planned theft, police said. The accused getaway car driver and mom, Ednamae Trinidad, 53, of Hartford, was charged with conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny and the son and alleged perpetrator, 29-year-old Anthony Adamo, of Bristol, was charged with that same crime plus sixth-degree larceny, according to a report.

Trinidad was given as court date of Oct. 2 and Adamo was slated to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Monday, police said.

According to a report, Trinidad was observed dropping off her son in front of the store and then driving behind the building near the loading dock. The rear registration plate was bent upward to hide the numbers, police said.

Adamo allegedly put eight, 30-packs of beer in a cart

He also tried to steal one roll of toilet paper and a package of cheese in addition to the 240 beers, according to a report.

Adamo tried to bust out of the store through an emergency exit to his mom waiting in the getaway car, a Ford Focus, according to a report. They were caught red-handed and arrested, according to a report.

Police said they are continuing to investigate the pair and indicated more charges could be filed.
