From across the pond, English blues guitarist Jack Broadbent was inspired by American music.
“I was always interested older American music. I naturally gravitated toward bands like Steely Dan and Doobie Brothers. I love a mixture of rock ‘n’ roll, jazz and blues,” Broadbent said. These influences helped to form Broadbent’s blues style and made him a unique talent on the slide guitar.
Broadbent will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, in the Devereaux Room of the Rialto Theater Center, 228 E. Fourth St., Loveland. Cost is $20.
Broadbent has released three full-length albums between 2013 and 2016, with “Portrait” being his most recent.
“I’ve been expanding my songwriting and I have been touring a lot more in the States the last couple years, so that’s had an influence,” he said of how his albums have progressed.
The slide guitarist has toured, opening for bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, and more recently headlined his own international tour.
“I love playing in the States. Americans seems to have real connection with live music, which I am all about,” he said.
Broadbent said that although he likes to create albums, he sees live performances as music in its truest form.
“I think it’s one of the rare things that are left that are a really natural thing that seems to bring people together. It doesn’t matter what style of music it is,” he said.
