An estimated $300,000 in diamonds were stolen in Mission Valley on Saturday when two thieves attacked a jewelry store vendor who was leaving work.

San Diego Police reported that a vendor was pulling out of the Robbins Brothers store parking lot with boxes of jewelry at 7 p.m. when a black sedan blocked him. Two armed men wearing masks got out of their car, broke the driver’s window, pistol whipped the vendor and seized the boxes.

The boxes reportedly contained diamonds worth $300,000, according to witnesses at the scene.

Police described the suspects as black males wearing dark clothing, gloves and masks. They fled east on Friars Road.
