CLIFTON PARK – Registration continues for the fall 2001 Plainsmen Jr. Football. Forms are available at Clifton Park Town Hall.

The instructional football league is open for children from kindergarten to seventh grade. All games and practices are on the Shenendehowa campus. The tackle program for grades four to seven begins Monday, Aug. 6. The flag program begins Monday, Aug. 20.

Fall baseball

CLIFTON PARK – Applications for the Clifton Park Baseball League’s Fall season for 12-year-old players are now available at the Clifton Park Town Hall, the league’s concession stands at Clifton Common or on the league’s website www.timesunion.com/communities/cliftonparkbaseball.

The fall baseball season for 12-year-old players (born between Aug. 1, 1998 and July 31, 1989) is designed to help players have a smooth transition from Cal Ripken Baseball to Babe Ruth Baseball.

The season is expected to run on weekends from Sept. 7 to Oct. 12 and games may be played in Guilderland, Colonie, Albany and Saratoga.

YMCA sports programs

CLIFTON PARK – The Southern Saratoga YMCA is offering a early fall mini-basketball league for boys and girls ages 9 through 14 and up. Games are at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. Saturdays, Sept. 8 through Oct. 6.

There is a limit of 40 kids per age group. Team shirts will be provided. Registration must be completed by Aug. 15 at the member desk at the YMCA, 1 Wall St., off Clifton Country Road.

Fee is $35 for members and $65 for program members. Coaches are also needed. For more information, call 371-2139, ext. 25 or 37.

The YMCA is offering adult basketball with the first game on Sunday, Sept. 9. Registration must be completed by Aug. 15.

Cost is $95 for members and $120 for program members. All teams must be paid in full prior to the beginning of the season.

Tae Kwon Do

MALTA – The Malta Community Center is offering instruction in the art of Tae Kwon Do by a certified master instructor for four weeks at the center, 1 Bayberry Dr.

Classes for children ages 7 to 15 are from noon to 12:45 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning Aug. 7.

Classes for adults ages 16 and up are from noon to 12:45 p.m. Thursdays, beginning Aug. 9.

Students will learn basic moves and techniques, as well as basic self-defense moves. Cost is $20 per student. Uniform is included.

Graduation is at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25 at Chong Hyo Academy of Tae Kwon Do.
