Nabilla Benattia, a 20-year-old TV personality and model, has become a media sensation after a coming out with a string of inane one-liners that already possess cult status in France.

Her defining moment came when she expressed her amazement that a fellow female housemate on Angels of Reality TV show did not have any shampoo, exclaiming: "No but, like, Hello? You're a girl and you don't have any shampoo?"

"Hello, are you receiving me? It's like saying you're a girl without any hair."

The clip of her disbelief went viral on YouTube and spawned a string of spin-offs and adverts from major brands like Ikea and Carrefour, the supermarket chain. Nabila swiftly copyrighted the phrase.

In another interview, the self-styled "bimbo" referred to "the great world war of 1978".

Despite her rising fame and appearances on prime time TV shows, Wikipedia's administrative community decided by 60 votes to 44 to erase her wiki page, saying she was a flash in the pan celebrity, and "more buzz than of encyclopedic interest".

Justifying the decision, Rémi Mathis, president of Wikimedia France, which runs Wikipedia, said the site tried to avoid creating pages that "simply spread the buzz of the week".

"Normal procedure in Wikipedia is when a page doesn't seem to necessarily fit the criteria, it is 'proposed for deletion'," he told Le Figaro newspaper.

A debate ensues among any person who has already made more than 50 contributions to Wikipedia then a vote is held.

But to all those frustrated Nabilla fans, Mr Mathis insisted: "That doesn't mean the article will never exist."

"A year from now, the community might decide that Nabilla merits an article and nobody will have anything to say against it."

The same thing happened to Justin Bieber, the teenage pop star.

"His page was deleted in the summer of 2009 before he had reached sufficient fame in the autumn (when it was reinstated)," said Mr Mathis, adding that the process was "perfectly banal".
