The La Joya ISD operates BOTH a golf course AND a water park which BOTH lose the district $$$.

So the superintendent gets a $300K+ severance package. Plus full payout for sick and vacation time.

And she's not the only one either.

I know la Joya well.

It’s the Desert. Operating either in that area of Texas is beyond stupid.

Texas does well at the government level. Districts have however decided to go nuts with spending and bonds and eff over the tax payers.

Every day that goes by tells me in a loud and clear voice I took the wrong career path....getting overpaid and over compensated while doing worse than nothing would have been the correct.......more financially correct path.......shite!!

More than likely there's a pension in there someplace.

If they had managed it properly, that golf course could be highly successful. Pinion Hills, in the middle of the desert in Farmington, NM far away from anywhere, is one of the finest courses in the country and golfers flock to it to play there.
