Shocking CCTV footage has emerged of the moment a car is driven at a group car wash workers in Addlestone , moments after a man reportedly tried to rob the premises armed with a hammer.

The incident happened at The Original Car Spa, based out of the car park at Bourne Valley Garden Centre, on Saturday afternoon (October 7).

Police confirmed reports that a number of people at he business were attacked by a man wielding a hammer, but were able to fight off the assailant.

However, a car then ploughs into the crowd, understood to have been driven by a person known to the original attacker.

On Sunday evening (October 8), The Original Car Spa issued its own CCTV footage via Facebook, showing the attack in its entirety .

Surrey Police told Get Surrey on Monday (October 9) the vehicle used in the attack had now been recovered by officers. No arrests have yet been made.

The video shows workers cleaning a car at the garage when a individual dressed in dark clothing runs into the premises.

A scuffle breaks out between the attacker and a number of other men, who manage to pin the suspect to the floor.

It is at this point a car drives at the group while they are holding the attacker down, with several individuals clearly struck by the car.

One attempts to stop the vehicle from reversing away from the scene by entering the drivers door and is dragged away before becoming free.

Armed officers were called to the garden centre car park following reports of a robbery

In a statement issued on Saturday evening, Surrey Police said: "We were called to Bourne Valley Garden Centre in Addlestone at 5pm today following reports of people being attacked by a man with a hammer.

"We believe the victims fought back, and then a person known to the initial attacker drove their car towards those defending themselves. This caused minor injuries to the pedestrians.

"Armed officers along with the Area Policing Team responded to the incident as it was reported that the attacker had a hammer with them.

"This is not a terror related incident and officers are continuing to establish the circumstances of the incident and believe it to be an attempted robbery."
