Chapter Text

As daylight filters in through the blinds, Taako tiredly wonders if he could feasibly sue the sun. Or at least, whoever’s in charge of the sun. He rolls over, fully intending to pick Kravitz’s brain on this sleepy scenario, only to find the other side of the bed empty, save for one of their cats.

Much to Casper’s displeasure, Taako stretches like taffy to grab the clock off Kravitz’s nightstand and squints at it. Ah, it’s nearly eleven. That explains the empty bed. But, he thinks to himself as he carefully replaces the clock, it doesn’t explain why nobody’s giving him shit for sleeping so long. That’s usually par the course.

Taako peels himself out of bed and scoops up Casper, who’s decided that it’s unconscionable that someone in the same room as he’s in isn’t giving him attention.

“You know, I’m sure you ate,” Taako says seriously to the cat in his arms as he’s giving him scratches behind the ears, under the chin, and even daring a cautious hand to the cat’s stomach.

“Mrow!”

“No, I hear you, I do. But Krav is hardly the type to let you starve.”

In protest, Casper wriggles out of Taako’s arms and sets off down the hallway. Taako grabs a sweatshirt off the chest at the end of the bed before following behind. He smiles to himself as he hears music playing from the living room.

“I would like to reach out my hand!” Kravitz sings as he sprays furniture polish onto a rag.

“I may see you, I may tell you to run!” Angus adds, waving for Kravitz to toss him a rag. After an admittedly good catch, he sets off to tackle one of the towering bookshelves.

Kravitz glances up and sees Taako watching the pair of them, a molasses sweet and soft smile on his face. All their cats are circling his feet, meowing and certainly complaining that Kravitz is so cruel, so uncaring, so mean for not feeding them again even though they ate not even two hours ago.

“Rusted Root, huh?” He says, striding into the living room and pressing a kiss to Kravitz’s cheek.

“It does wonders for productivity,” Kravitz replies, wrapping an arm around Taako’s waist.

“It really does! At least, it’s either that or the coffee,” Angus says, sending Taako a wave and a grin before going back to dusting.

“Coffee, huh?” Taako raises his eyebrows at Kravitz, who looks at him sheepishly.

“I hate telling him no.”

“You’re such a pushover, I love you. There any left or caffeine fiend get it all?” Taako extracts himself from Kravitz’s grasp and heads to the kitchen to answer his own question.

“There’s still half a pot left!” Kravitz calls, taking a rag to the shelves Angus can’t reach.

“Well, fellas, I’m gonna drink this cup of coffee, turn on my chore playlist, and then you’ll see what real productivity looks like.” Taako says, pouring a perhaps excessive amount of sugar into his coffee. He’s always hated doing chores on the weekends but he supposes the company makes it a little more enjoyable.
