Musical extravaganza
On Saturday, support a worthy cause and enjoy the musical talent of award-winning producer, composer, and Nyack resident Neil Berg. The two-concert event starts at 1 p.m. with “Broadway and Baseball for Kids and continues at 7 p.m. with “Piano Men: A Tribute to Elton John and Billy Joel.” Proceeds benefit Nyack Valley Cottage Little League. Travel back in time and relive the decade of extravagance, big hair, wild fashion and great music during the Capitol Theatre's "Turn Back the Clock: 1980s" event on Saturday. The evening features performances of the decade’s greatest hits by the band Jessie’s Girl. ArtsRock Third Annual Puppet Festival
For the third year, the Puppet Festival featuring Rick Lyon from Sesame Street and Avenue Q returns to the Nyack Center on Sunday. This year's show features theatrical magic by local puppet masters Skye Leith and Jill Liflander as well as “The Magic Orange,” a fractured fairy tale about a poor farm boy trying to make his dream come true. Miss Teen New York Pageant
Forget the controversy surrounding last month’s Miss Universe Pageant. This weekend, support Colleen McCoy of Pearl River who competes for the title of Miss New York Teen USA Jan. 15-17 at The Purchase College Performing Arts Center. Pagents at the Performing Arts Center include Miss New York USA Preliminary at 4 p.m. Jan. 16, Miss New York Teen USA Final at 3 p.m. Jan. 17 and 6 p.m. Miss New York USA Final at 6. “Seussical”
Dr. Seuss’s best-loved stories collide in TheatreworksUSA’s musical caper “Seussical.” Adapted from the Broadway version, especially for young audiences this production features The Cat in the Hat as host in this romp through the Seuss classics. 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Saturday. $15.
