Instead of propaganda, media must report all crimes factually

As a UMass Lowell student who has seen how context can cause negative assumptions when it come to race and war.

I urge the Department of Propaganda to stop perpetuating false knowledge of race and war to an already ignorant America.

Recently, American news outlets have used omission to aid in the favor and sympathy for Palestinians over the Israelis. This happened when they showed a Palestine boy lying in the streets being yelled at by an Israeli man, without explaining that with the help of his cousin that boy was able to stab and severely injure two Israeli people, one of whom was a small boy who was stabbed 13 times in the neck.

Obviously this is a well-made propaganda ploy, but why was it needed? Doesn’t this country have many other things to worry about, like clean energy and the problems with college debt?

Sadly, there is really no difference in how American news handles the crimes that happen at home as well. The only difference here is the people in favor happen to white and sometimes the suspect, and the ones who are not in favor happen to be of minority and are at most times the victim. I say this because time and time again I see the same crimes happen on the news but depending on race of the suspect or victim, the story is told a lot differently.

Say like the Mike Brown case where the cop who shot and killed Mike Brown, who was unarmed at the time, got put on paid leave. This honestly needs to stop and to make that happen we need to simply stop favoring other races over each other and explain the whole story because context is really the key in understanding complex conflicts.

Honestly, I urge all concerned adults, students, and others to spot and stop these lies of omission in our media.

Yes, I understand it’s propaganda but honestly it should be used for good, like persuading people to find ways of new and reusable energy for the world.
