H. Jay Roelofs

Born April 25, 1945 on the family farm in Milaca, MN, Jay entered the United States Air Force in 1963 and was honorably discharged in 1967. He then settled in Alexandria, MN where he served as a Police Officer and Investigator, retiring from the police department in 1998. Jay was an avid motorcycle rider and enthusiast and attended Sturgis Motorcycle Rally for 20 years. He was also a long-standing member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and The American Legion. In 2015 Jay moved to Maryland and remained very active member and supporter of The American Legion, Post #276 Severn, MD. He is survived by his son Michael Roelofs, daughter-in-law Dawn Roelofs, daughter Misty Roelofs and son-in-law Thomas McGovern. He is also survived by his brother Timothy Roelofs, sister-in-law Lois Roelofs his former wife, Nancian Roelofs and sister-in-law Myrna Schreur. Jay was the proud Grandfather of Joshua Prince, Shantel Roelofs, Jonathan Roelofs, and Brody McGovern and the Great Grandfather of Sylas Prince and Blaize Tidd. Jay is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife Carolyn Roelofs, brothers James Roelofs and Danny Roelofs, step-brother Marvin Schreur as well as his parents Ervin and Winnie Roelofs.

Services include a gathering of family and friends on Sat, 11 Aug at 2PM at Alexandria VFW Post #936. Funeral services will be in Pease, MN at the Christian Reformed Church on Mon, 13 Aug at 11 AM.
