TRAVEL INSURANCE: Which bank offers the best value travel insurance?

THE BEST travel insurance offered by banks has been revealed, with the package that offers the most value for money.

The best travel insurance on the market offered in bank package accounts has been revealed

Many banks offer travel insurance included in their packages when signing up to use they current accounts.

Yet people still choose to travel without health insurance, after a study found nearly half refuse to buy it.

Which? have found the banks that stand out when it comes to travel insurance before heading abroad.

The top three banks on the market have been found to offer the best value against the cost of the account.

The bank that came out on top was found to be Nationwide’s FlexPlus account. 

With just a £10 a month fee, it has worldwide travel insurance which includes breakdown cover and mobile insurance.

With a value of £252 for someone aged under 65, after taking away the £10 a month fee, the worth is valued at £174 which makes it very worthwhile.

Other banks that closely followed were Yorkshire Signature current account, coming in at a value of £138 (yet has no breakdown cover) and Barclays current account at £132 (which has no mobile cover).

If travelling only once a year, or don’t need any gadgets insured then it may not be worth it.

Travellers should also check what is included in the travel insurance to avoid being caught out.

Whilst many of them will cover basic illnesses and injuries, it may not cover additionals such as cruises which are worth investigating.

The Financial Ombudsman Service has reported a rise in consumer complaints when it comes to the travel packages provided with their bank.

Out of 44,000 new cases last year, more than one in ten of them were in favour of the consumer so it is worth investigating.

Consumers should always complain if they have been misled.

This can even relate to flights if delayed when travelling.

With over a quarter of flights in the UK constantly delayed, holidaymakers can seek compensation if affected by it.
