Why Reggie Miller 'loved' the skirmish between the Rockets and Clippers (on the floor)

Reggie Miller was completely supportive of the chippiness between the Clippers and Rockets on Monday night — at least on the court.

“You could kind of see things going on throughout the game, especially between Chris (Paul) and Blake (Griffin),” he told Dan Patrick on Tuesday, “which I thought was legitimately fun because after a little shove or elbow here they would both grimace or smile. So I thought they were having fun with one another. But it took a turn when the benches started to jaw at each other — Austin Rivers and Patrick Beverley, who were in their (civilian clothes) and who were talking all night to Chris Paul and the rest of the Rockets, I think that’s kind of what ignited what was going on on the floor.

Personally, I loved it. I’m tired of the whole hugging it out and let’s go have a beer after generation. It had an old-school feel to it.”

As for the locker room part though? He said he certainly never experienced anything like that during his career.

“You can’t have this,” he said. “I would not be surprised (if there was) a hefty fine and possible suspensions so just so no one has the idea of doing something like this when they get in a scuffle.”

In his era?

“We handled things on the floor,” he declared.
