After the second and third string defense was gashed by the San Francisco 49ers, the Denver Broncos look to bounce back against the Los Angeles Rams. It looks like the first team defense will be without Derek Wolfe, so the first team defense will face a significant test against all-world running back Todd Gurley.

Game time

The game is set to kickoff at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Saturday, August 27th at 7:05 p.m. Mile High time (9:00 p.m. Eastern time).

TV schedule and TV channels

The game will air locally on KTVD in Denver. Ron Zappolo will do the play-by-play, along with John Lynch as analyst and Rod Mackey on the sideline.

Online streaming

NFL Game Pass offers live audio and re-airs after the game. During preseason, Game Pass will also broadcast games live.

DirecTV's NFL Sunday Ticket has expanded its online streaming service. Verizon subscribers can watch games live with the NFL Mobile app (subscription required, and usual TV blackout rules apply even online).

Radio

Colorado can listen on KOA (850 AM) or The Fox (133.5 FM) with Dave Logan (play-by-play), Ed McCaffrey (color analyst) and Andy Lindahl (sideline reporting).

Spanish radio KNVR (1150 AM) will also broadcast the game with Javier Olivias (play-by-play), Carlos Valdez (color analyst) and Hector Salazar (sideline reporting).

Participation

DeMarcus Ware isn’t likely to play, but Aqib Talib is finally a go to play in a live game after recovering from being shot in the leg this offseason. Derek Wolfe has been absent from practice to attend to a personal issue, which means he likely won’t play on Saturday.

On the offensive side of the ball, Ty Sambrailo is also out. Though he is reportedly getting close to being able to return to action.

Quotable

The Broncos will likely be cutting a lot of players in the days immediately after the game as the team meets the mandated roster counts next week. Here is what head coach Gary Kubiak had to say about cutting down the roster.

“You normally don’t try to look too far ahead, but we almost have to as an organization because two weeks from today, we play our opener,” Kubiak sad. “We have two games to play and I think 14 players to let go. There are just so many things going on. We’ve got issues going on with some injuries and some things like that. It is a grind right now. I know you guys are getting frustrated with me from the quarterback questions, but I’ve got a lot of things going on. I’m trying to get this team to opening day here in two weeks. We have a lot of questions to answer and things to get done.”

Predictions

The Broncos and Rams never faced off in a preseason game until 1980, but since then they have met nine times. The Broncos are an impressive 7-2 in these meaningless games. As for predicting the outcome, I’ll say the Broncos first team wins then all bets are off.
