Man charged in killing of teen after Kansas City fight

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Authorities say a man has charged in the fatal shooting of a teen a few blocks from the Kansas City Zoo.

Thirty-year-old Brandon Neal has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the Aug. 25 death of 17-year-old Raphael Grimmett. Bond is set at $250,000. No attorney is listed for him in online court records.

The Kansas City Star reports that witnesses told police that another man got into a fight with Raphael and his mother over a debit card. Court records say that when the fight spilled from inside a home into its front yard, Neal pulled out a handgun, chased Raphael and shot him.

Police say the man who fought with Raphael then fled into Kansas City, Kansas, with law enforcement in pursuit, and crashed.
