Members of Kuching Yung’s Foochow Club attend CNY dinner

KUCHING: Members of Kuching Yung’s Foochow Club came together for a grand Chinese New Year celebration at Thian Court, Crown Square here on Saturday night.

In his speech, organising chairman Kiu Bing Siong said the festive season is a time to bring all family members and friends together to celebrate and renew ties with each other.

“It is also a time we remember and pay respect to our elders for all they gave  us,” he said.

At the dinner, ‘angpows’ were presented to 142  elderly members. The oldest recipients were a  97-year-old woman and an 87-year-old man.

The dinner also hosted a 13-member delegation from Indonesia, which included the Djajanti Group founder and former president of World Federation of Fuzhou Associations, Dato Sri Burhan Uray, and his wife Betty Pai.

Also part of the delegation was the founder of the well-known media group Surya Paloh and former Maluku governor Karel Albert Ralahulu.

Also present was Kuching Yung’s Foochow Club chairman Jeffrey Choo.
