Mohansic Travel Basketball Team Advances to TCBL Semifinals

The Mohansic 6th Grade Girls Team from Yorktown edged out Armonk in a nail-biting overtime game last week, which propelled them to the semi-finals of the Tri-County Basketball League.

At Thursday evening's game, Yorktown took an early and commanding lead vs Armonk. However, Armonks intense defense and persistent offense sparked a strong come back. The fierce battle continued through the second half as each team matched basket for basket ending regulation play in a tie. During overtime play - Yorktown took command with a methodical offense and near impenetrable defense leading them to victory with a final score of 24-21.

It was a hard fought season for the Yorktown girls who worked tirelessly to earn them a spot at the semi finals. The team ended the regular season with a record of 8-6.

The girls on the team are Amber Bodden, Juliana Caputo, Isabella Cicinelli, Samantha Fasce, Skylar Katz, Nicole Rabadi, Samantha Riccardulli, Christina Ruvo, Erica Savoca, Kathryn Severino, Sophia Torres. Coaching this team to victory are: Larry Caputo, Ken Torres, and Matt Severino.

Coach Larry said, "These are a great bunch of girls that worked really hard this season, and had a lot fun along the way. It's no surprise that they extended the season with such a nail biter"

The semi final game is scheduled for Saturday evening against the number one seed, Robert Jacobson Sports.
