The United Southwest Bank of Vesta, MN in Redwood County received a counterfeit fifty dollar bill ($50.00) today (Wednesday, May 3).

The bill is actually a One Dollar ($1.00) bill that has had it's original printing removed by bleaching and then has been re-printed as a $50 bill.

The bill does not react to counterfeit detection pens as it is printed on valid currency stock.

The bill was received by a business from a patron who is not a suspect, who lives and works in the City of Marshall, MN.

Some of the wording and graphics from the one dollar bill, bled through to the fifty dollar bill, and the magnetic strip was missing from the bill.
