SAN ANTONIO - Two women were arrested and jailed after both were pulled from a burning car following a crash in New Braunfels.

The New Braunfels Police Department said the two women were in a Chevy Impala when the driver lost control on Common Street and slammed into a utility pole on Wednesday evening.

The car caught fire and other people who were passing by worked to get the two women out of the wreckage.

The women, identified as DeeAnn Lynn Harmon and Leanna Elizabeth Gardner, were treated at a hospital in New Braunfels. Harmon was charged with DWI and public intoxication. Gardner was charged with public intoxication

Police believe Harmon was driving drunk and speeding when she lost control at a curve in the road. They said the women may face additional charges.
