Lieutenant-Governor Anil Baijal on Saturday directed the Chief Secretary to take action on alleged irregularities in a recently-conducted test for the recruitment of primary teachers.
Mr. Baijal’s directions the submission of a memorandum in which the opposition BJP had demanded immediate cancellation of the Primary Recruitment Test held by the Delhi Service Selection Board (DSSSB) on October 29.
The test was allegedly compromised with its question paper being leaked and candidates allegedly being given a “free run to copy answers”. The test was held at 200 centres and more than one lakh candidates appeared for the exam.
Call for CBI probe
“The L-G has asked the Chief Secretary of Delhi to take necessary action in the matter. This information has been given in a letter received by the Leader of the Opposition, Vijender Gupta,” the Delhi BJP said in a statement.
A delegation of the Delhi BJP led by Mr. Gupta had met the L-G at Raj Niwas on Tuesday to submit the memo, which also asked for announcement of fresh dates to conduct the test again.
The delegation had also urged the L-G to get the matter investigated by the CBI and to take strict action against the culprits so that such incidents did not recur.
“Apart from the question paper being leaked, there was widespread mismanagement at the examination centres. The Delhi government remained quiet on the issue for almost a month,” Mr. Gupta alleged.
