Dana Altman continues to masterfully work the transfer game, this time with the commitment of Chris Duarte from Northwest Florida State College .

The 6’6 guard from the Dominican Republic has played in 32 games for the Raiders and was named First Team All-Conference. He’s averaged 2 steals per game, 12.1 points and 6.7 rebounds. Many consider him one of the top juco players in the nation.

Duarte signed with Western Kentucky originally, but will play his sophomore season with NWF. He will have two years of eligibility.

He may be Oregon Basketball’s first commit of 2019, but he is not the first Duck commit from Northwest Florida State College. Elgin Cook also was a Raider before he became a Duck.

“NWF State helped me grow as a player on and off the court,” said Duarte on the site for the NWF Raiders. “I want to thank all of the staff who has helped me become the player I need to be to play at a Division-1 program like Oregon. I’m very excited and thankful for this opportunity.”
