Country music star Rodney Atkins will perform at the Hillsdale County Fairgrounds on Wednesday.HILLSDALE, MI – Summer is in the rear view mirror, but there is one last hurrah for those in south-central Michigan who can’t get enough amusement rides and fair food.
The Hillsdale County Fair begins Sunday and will run through Sept. 29. This year’s fair will include concerts with country star Rodney Atkins and classic rocker Eddie Money.
Here’s a look at the grandstand entertainment lineup and ticket prices:
Sunday – Combine Demolition Derby, 6:30 p.m.
Monday – Super Kicker Rodeo, 7 p.m.
Tuesday – International Demolition Derby, 7 p.m. Adults $8-$10, ages 12 and under $5.
Wednesday – Rodney Atkins, 7 p.m., $25-$28.
Thursday and Friday – Modified and super stock tractor pull, 7 p.m. Adults $10-$12, ages 12 and under $5.
Sept. 29 – Eddie Money, 7 p.m., $16-$19.
Tickets for the Rodney Atkins and Eddie Money concerts are available in advance through startickets.com or by calling 800-585-3737. Tickets are also available through the grandstand box office.
Tickets to evening grandstand events are in addition to regular fair admission, which is $4 for adults and $1 for ages 10 through 14. Children under 10 get in free.
Here are some other highlights:
– Rides will be open from 1 to 10 p.m. daily, with the exception of Monday and Saturday, when they will open at 11 a.m. Today will be $1 ride day, although not all rides will be operating.
– Monday is Veterans Day. All veterans, including National Guard and reserves, receive free admission with proper credentials.
– Senior citizen day will be Friday. Ages 65 and older will receive free admission.
– There will be a special religious service at Nichols Bandshell at 2 p.m. Sunday, which will be followed by a talent show at 4 p.m.
– Harness racing is slated for 1 p.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. Thursday.
