Service: 2 p.m. Monday, July 8, at Coffman Funeral Home of Harrison, with burial at Western Grove Cemetery; Visitation: 2-4 p.m. Sunday, July 7, at the funeral home. 

Ronald Wayne "Ron" Lowery, 71, of Valley Springs, passed away Thursday, July 4 (2019) at home surrounded by his family.

The son of Callaway "C.C" and Margie (Morrison) Lowery was born March 2, 1948, at Harrison. He was a lifelong resident of Boone County and a member of Western Grove Bible Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 198 of St. Joe, where he had served as regional commander.

Ron was a six-year US Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam Era, then he served an additional 17 years in the US Army Reserve. After his military service, he worked at Valley Springs School and Western Grove School as a bus mechanic and bus driver for 25 years.  

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting. Ron's family was his world and he loved spending time with his grandkids. He was a wonderful husband and the best dad. To his family and friends, he was loving, devoted, kind and compassionate, never having a bad word to say about anyone.  

He was preceded in death by his father, C.C. Lowery; a brother, Eddie Lowery; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Jeanette Lowery, Clifford and Loretta Sisco, Coy and Penny Eddings, Billy Eddings, and Gladys Eddings.

Ron is survived by his wife of 43 years, Elvida Lowery, of the home; his mother, Margie Lowery, of Everton; two sons and their wives, Doug and Diana Lowery, of Western Grove, and Dustin and Melissa Lowery, of Valley Springs; two brothers, Kermit Lowery and wife Candy, of Hasty, and Bobby Lowery, of Everton; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy Eddings, of St. Joe, Coeta and Steve Hensley of Valley Springs, Leveta and Buddy Snyder, of Eros, and Judy Eddings, of Winslow; nine grandchildren, Trevor Lowery (Staci), Walker Lowery, Alex Lowery (Matt Hyde), Trevor Collins (Kearson), Callie Heft (Barney), Skyler Lowery (Lexi Williams), Mabel Lowery, Molly Lowery and Maddie Lowery; four great-grandchildren, Anna, Karter, Emma-Jean and Kirby and one little peanut on the way; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends, all who loved him and will miss him.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 8, at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Harrison with Pastor Dennis Sisco and Gabe Hensley.  Burial with military honors will follow at Western Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 7, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Katrina Scott, Marla Shepard, Robert Eddings, Kyle Sisco, Billy Snyder, Eric Lowery and Matthew Hyde.

Honorary pallbearers are the nurses and staff of Hospice of the Hills and the members of American Legion Post No. 198, St. Joe.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Legion, Post 198.
