ANNANDALE - The Hunterdon County YMCA will host its third annual Color Me Healthy Fun Run on Saturday, May 6 at the Y's Round Valley Branch, 1410 Route 22 west.
This 1-mile course is suitable for the entire family, including the family pet. This year there will be additional post run activities for all. Over 1,000 people took part in last year's run.
The YMCA created the run in 2015 to provide a community event for the entire family and for all fitness levels, according to a news release.
"The Color Me Healthy Fun Runs have turned out to be amazing events," said YMCA Director of Healthy Living Teri Saccal. "It has been great to see family and friends being active together and having a great time."
The event is open to the community. Participants can register at either Y Branch or online at www.hcymca.org. Registration fees are $10 for members and $15 for non-members ages 12 through adults, and $5 for member and $10 non-members for youth ages 3-11. Children under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult. The run will start in waves and participants can register as a team to be assigned the same start time.
The first wave will start at noon, followed by staggered waves. Start times will be posted on the Y website one week prior to the race. The last wave of the day will be pet-friendly. Leashed dogs that are up to date on vaccinations are welcome.
The color is non-toxic, but may stain. Participants are encouraged to wear white for maximum color effect. Official Color Me Healthy Fun Run T-shirts are available for $5 and can be purchased at time of registration.
