ASDA has issued an urgent recall for a brand of sausages

The sausages by C&K Meats are a “possible health risk”, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) said, for anyone with a sulphur dioxide or sulphite allergy.

The FSA has recalled the 400g packs of Country Style Pork Sausages and Caramelised Red Onion Pork Sausages. No other C&K Meats or Asda products are affected.

The FSA warned: “C&K Meats is recalling Country Style Pork Sausages and Sage & Caramelised Red Onion Pork Sausages because they contain undeclared sulphur dioxide which is not mentioned on the label.

“This means the products are a possible health risk for anyone with a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites. The product is sold in Asda stores only.”

The products have ‘use by’ dates up to March 23.

Customers with sulphur dioxide or sulphite allergies have been told to return the products.

ASDA said the sausages could affect those with sulphite allergies

Sulphur dioxide is used in sausages as a preservative but it can cause reactions for those with allergies or asthma.

The FSA said: “These products contain sulphur dioxide making them a possible health risk for anyone with a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites.

“If you have bought either of the above products and have a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites, do not eat them. Instead return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund.”
