Isaiah Wilson, NFL first-round draft pick in 2020, had been arrested in high-speed chase before Titans traded him

Isaiah Wilson, a first-round NFL draft pick last year, was arrested in January in Georgia for driving as fast as 140 mph, with drugs in his possession, two months before the Titans traded him, according to a police report obtained by the Tennessean on Wednesday.

The Titans traded Wilson to the Dolphins on March 8. Miami released him on March 20.

On Jan. 7, Wilson and a woman were charged with felony fleeing from police, possession of a schedule 1 controlled substance, marijuana possession, drug-related paraphernalia, reckless driving, reckless conduct and speeding in a construction zone, according to a Barrow County (Georgia) Sherriff's Office incident report.

The reporting officer, Stephen Kinney, recorded Wilson's speed in a 2006 blue Dodge Charger at 123 mph. Kinney chased Wilson's car and reported it reached 140 mph. Police terminated the chase because of the dangerously high speeds. Wilson's car was later found wrecked, 100 yards off the road. Wilson, identified as the driver, was arrested at gunpoint, according to the report.

Wilson told police he fled because he had past experiences with law enforcement and he was scared he would go to jail, according to the report. He and the passenger told police no illegal substances were in the car. A metal grinder containing 3.4 grams of marijuana was found in the console, and 0.2 grams of acid were found in the woman's purse.

Wilson was released on Jan. 8, according to Barrow County Sherriff's Office. No court date has been set. Wilson will appear in Georgia Superior Court because he was charged with felony fleeing from police.

Wilson, an offensive tackle out of the University of Georgia, was selected by the Titans with the No. 29 pick in the 2020 NFL draft. He was an indisputable bust on and off the field.

Wilson played only four snaps in his rookie season. In September, he was arrested and charged with DUI three days before the Titans' season opener. Twice he was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. And in December, he was suspended for “violating club rules” and placed on reserve.
