Altrincham’s Southmark to undergo overhaul

Architect Pozzoni has been appointed to remodel the Southmark building in central Altrincham as owner Columbia Threadneedle looks to capitalise on the Trafford town’s revival.

The 29,395 sq ft building was previously occupied in full by financial services business Sesame Bankhall, which moved to CEG’s Jackson House in Sale this May.

A fit-out contractor has not been appointed yet, but work is expected to start before the end of this year, with the building being re-presented to the market in summer 2018.

Southmark occupies a central location on Barrington Road, just 100m from the town’s transport interchange. Owner Colombia Threadneedle has instructed Williams Sillitoe and Canning O’Neill as joint letting agents.

The four-storey building offers 62 underground parking spaces and offers suites of 1,862 sq ft upwards. Quoting rents are £18.50 per sq ft.

Charlie Williams, director of Williams Sillitoe, said: “Altrincham town centre has enjoyed a renaissance over the last few years with the launch of Altrincham market and an improved retail and leisure offer.

“There are few buildings of this size and stature available in the area and once the refurbishment is complete, Southmark will provide high quality office accommodation either as a self-contained office or a multi-let scheme.”
