Chloë Grace Moretz Addresses Crowd at DNC: 'My First Vote For President Will be For Hillary Clinton'

Chloë Grace Moretz is officially a member of Hillary Clinton‘s squad!

The actress cemented her #ImWithHer status Thursday night as she addressed the crowd at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia ahead of the presidential nominee’s own keynote speech.

The 19-year-old spoke about her first time voting in a general election.

“I am so excited to be able to say that my first vote for president will be for Hillary Clinton,” Moretz said. “What’s wild is that nearly four out of five young people actually stayed home in the 2014 congressional elections. Imagine what can happen if we all make our voice heard this November at the ballot box.”

Moretz was joined at the DNC by boyfriend Brooklyn Beckham. Before she took the stage, she posted a photo of the pair on Instagram.

“Look who surprised me !!! We are Ready to watch @hillaryclinton make history..” she wrote alongside the sweet selfie.

Moretz has been a vocal supporter of Clinton throughout the former Secretary of State’s campaign.

Earlier this month, the Neighbors 2 star shared a photo on Instagram with the presidential hopeful to announce her appearance at the DNC.

“I am so happy to announce I will be speaking At the democratic national convention ! #DNC #ImWithHer going to be such a beautiful historic day and I can’t believe I have the immense honor of being part of it. Thank you @hillaryclinton !” she captioned the picture.

And in February, Moretz stumped for Clinton in Las Vegas ahead of the Nevada Democratic caucus. At the time, she spoke to PEOPLE about the struggle young women like her face in deciding who to vote for.

“Two young women came up to me and they talked to me today about how they are afraid to vote for Hillary because they don’t want to be seen as strict feminists,” she said. “Because they’re afraid that men might look at them differently as a counterpart.”

Moretz continued: “Don’t be afraid to vote for Hillary just because she’s a woman. Vote for Hillary for the things that she stands for. Vote for Hillary for what she backs and what she supports.”

She later shared another photo with Beckham from the evening, captioning the black and white shot, “Such a special night.”

Moretz was one of countless celebrities to voice their support for Clinton at the DNC this week. Before Moretz took the stage Thursday, former NBA star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar also endorsed Clinton with a short speech.

“Hello everyone, I’m Michael Jordan and I’m here with Hillary,” he joked. “I said that because I know that Donald Trump couldn’t tell the difference.”

Clinton’s longtime supporters and friends Mary Steenburgen and Ted Danson also came forward to speak about their close relationship with the presidential candidate.

Steenburgen, an Arkansas native, said she’s been close friends with Clinton since 1978: “That’s a lot of life.”

“How would I describe her?” Steenburgen said. “Loves to laugh – especially at herself – world-class listener, quick to forgive … and, like her mom, if she gets knocked down seven times, she will get up eight.”

The actress recalled a night several decades ago when she and husband Danson were at the Clintons’ home for dessert, discussing children’s healthcare “in deep nuance.”

Steenburgen remembered looking at Clinton and thinking it would be great if someday she could be president.

“That was 38 years ago,” she said. “Then, it seemed like too much to dream for. Tonight, it seems very, very possible.”
