Jamiroquai's Jay Kay looks worlds apart from his former self in a dapper suit and tie as he celebrates his 46th birthday

He is famed for his eccentric dress sense and love of hats as the frontman of acid jazz band Jamiroquai.

But Jay Kay looked markedly different as he ventured out in London on Tuesday, ditching his rock 'n' roll style for a rather dapper suit as he celebrated his 46th birthday in style.

The Little L hit-maker flashed a big grin as he enjoyed a slap-up meal with a group of friends at new hotspot Sexy Fish.

Jay Kay posed with his pals and the smartly clad doorman during a smoking break outside the restaurant, looking super stylish in his silk-lined dinner jacket and polka dot tie.

Many would have been forgiven for not recognising the musician, who still has his trademark shaggy mane and a cheeky twinkle in his eye.

Back in the 90s and 00s, Jamiroquai was known for his love of large headgear - ranging from oversized trilbies to feathered headdresses - and sportswear tops.

This summer, it was revealed in court that Jay Kay suffered panic attacks after an infatuated female stalker repeatedly declared her love to him on his doorstep.

Australian-born superfan Ilona Angel turned up at the singer's luxurious home in Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire, on numerous occasions over six months.

The 51-year-old even camped by his property for two weeks without his knowledge, Oxford Magistrates Court heard.

Angel denied harassing the frontman but was found guilty on July 15 this year following a trial.

In an emotional victim impact statement read to the court, Mr Kay said: 'I was genuinely in fear for my safety and the safety of the others in my home.

Her visits were unpredictable and she was appearing more and more aggressive when she could not see or speak to me.

'I believe her erratic behaviour means she is not mentally sound and I lived in fear of what she was capable of doing next.'
