10. The Elgin School District U-46 Planetarium began life as the Elgin National Watch Company Observatory before the observatory was donated to the school district in 1959. The school district added the planetarium in 1963, making it the first school system in Illinois to have its own planetarium. From Monday through the holiday, the department -along with others across the state will step up roadside safety checks and increase the number of officers on the road as part of the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, according to a news release. Increased state and national messaging about the dangers of driving impaired by alcohol or other drugs will supplement the increased The enforcement is designed to be zero tolerance for both impaired driving and seat belt law violations, the release said. In 2013, there were 10,076 people killed in drunken driving crashes in the U.S., almost a third of all traffic fatalities. Nearly 40 percent of crash fatalities on Labor Day weekend that year involved drunken drivers, amounting to 161 killed.

The campaign emphasizes those heading out for the evening should plan ahead by designating a sober driver or planning to take a cab. The enforcement crackdown is funded by federal traffic safety funds allocated by the Illinois Department of Transportation. Leo J. Jessica, 24 NORTHWEST HERALD CRYSTAL LAKE Trips aimed at retired adults are planned for the Oberweis Dairy plant, Elgin Planetarium and the Coronado Performing Arts Center. The trips, which include behind-the-scenes tours, are being coordinated through McHenry County College's Retired Adult Program. The Retired Adult Program is a membership-based, noncredit program for adults ages 50 and older who are active, curious and interested in learning. The cost for a one-year membership is $25, renewable every July 1.

The trips are only accessible to members. The following field trips are available: Oberweis Dairy Plant Tour: 8:10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday. She was born September 19, 1990 in Hoffman Estates, the daughter of Gayle (Bernt Jensen) Fetzer and Edward (Mary) Fetzer. Aimee is also survived by her loving sisters, Shannon Fetzer and Mary Fetzer; her maternal grandmother, Grandma Marge; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Albin Werner; and her paternal grandmother, Bernice Fetzer. Aimee graduated from Jacobs High School and received her nursing degree from Elgin Community College. She was currently working at Centegra Hospital in McHenry.

18, 2015; in Woodstock, IL Beatrice "Bea" F. Templeton, age 79, of Marengo, passed away August 18, 2015 at JourneyCare Hospice in Woodstock. She was born August 5, 1936 in Chicago. In 1984 she married Peter Templeton. Bea was very passionate about volunteering.

She was active with M.O.R.E. in Marengo and Meals-on-Wheels. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Marengo and the Marengo Red Hat Society. At home, Bea loved cooking homemade meals from scratch. Beatrice is survived by her husband, Peter; her sons, Jim Schultz, Kenneth Schultz, Keith Schultz, and David Schultz; her stepchildren, Pam Templeton, Jody Templeton, Peter Templeton and Erin Page; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and step-grandchildren; her goddaughter, Roxanne Kauer; and her nephews, Steve and Brian McCarthy.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Bernadine, Beverly, and Ben. A memorial service will be held at p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Marengo, 320 E. Washington Marengo. After several years at the welding shop, he went back to school in Hutchinson, Minnesota, and worked in the field of Non Destructive Ultrasonic Testing Inspection for about 10 years. At the time of his death, he was employed at McLean Fogg Component Solutions in Mundelein.

Mike was a wonderful, loving, devoted husband, an exceptional, loving dad to his three children, an outstanding brother and a caring son. Mike loved spending time with his family and friends, working in the garden, making homemade beer, grilling year round and making people smile with his goofy sense of humor. Mike was an unselfish person with a generous, giving heart. From the time he served in the United States Navy to his everyday life, he was always ready and willing to help others. Mike is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Mark; daughters, Emily and Allison; brothers, John (Dena) and Norman (Barb); mother, Phyllis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, John G. Schimming of Canton, MN. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Patrick's Church in McHenry, IL, followed by a celebration of his life at the VFW in McHenry, IL, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Mike's memory, to the Gift Of Hope Organ and Tissue Donor Network or the Wounded Warrior Project.

GENEVIEVE SZOPSKI Born: Aug. 10, 1915; in Chicago, IL Died: Aug. 20, 2015; in Lake Zurich, IL Genevieve Szopski, age 100, of Chicago, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Lexington Health Care Facility. She was born August 10, 1915 in Chicago to the Kedzierski's of Chicago. She was the devoted wife to the late Chester Szopski.

Genevieve was an employee of the Arvey Corporation in Chicago. She retired from Arvey at age 77 at which time she received several awards for her outstanding service. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chicago. Genevieve loved to play bingo, travel and was an avid Cubs fan.

Survivors include her daughter, Helen (Dennis) Glasder of Cary; son, Edward Blomberg of Chicago; 11 grandchildren, Steve (Kathy) Glasder, John (Patty) Glasder, De-nise "Dolly" (Rich) Schlottman, Jim Glasder, Joe (Michelle) Glasder, Tim Order of I Toasted Ravioli with any 18" Pizza Thru August 31st Dine in or pick up only.
