These cats' names have made us smile (enter Cutest Cat contest by email or free photo shoot Jan. 14)

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cutest Cat contest photos are pouring in faster than milk into a kitty's dish.

Every entry is unique. From cute poses to heartwarming stories, cleveland.com's "Best of" team enjoys each submission that has been emailed to us since the contest began earlier this week.

Some of the cats' names have made us smile and we'd like to share many of the unique names with you. Click through the gallery above to see the names and the adorable faces that go with them.

Cleveland.com is still accepting nominations for its Cutest Cat in Greater Cleveland contest.

It's easy to enter the contest. All we need is a picture and some basic details. Or you can attend a free photo shoot event on Jan. 14.

There are two ways to enter cats into the Cutest Cat contest:

Email a picture: Simply email a recent picture of your cat - or a picture of you/your family with your cat - to best@cleveland.com. The deadline is Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 11:59 p.m.

Be sure to include your first and last name and your city of residence in the email. Also tell us a little about your cat, including name, breed (if known) and age. Be sure to identify everyone in the picture. If you want to enter more than one cat, send a separate photo of each cat.

Choose your photo carefully because, due to the high volume of entries, we will not be able to allow photo changes.

No professional photos are allowed due to copyright issues.

Attend free photo shoot on Jan. 14: Bring your cat(s) to our downtown Cleveland office located at 1801 E. Superior Ave. on Saturday, Jan. 14 for a free portrait taken by one of four staff photographers. That picture will be used as your contest entry and you will receive a free digital copy of your portrait.

The photo shoot runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and parking is free in our lot, which is located behind the building at East 18th Street and Rockwell Avenue.

To help with pacing, we ask owners with last names starting with A through L to arrive between 10 a.m. and noon.; and people with last names beginning with M through Z to arrive between 1 to 4 p.m.

All cats must be inside a carrier other than when they are having their photograph taken.

More details about the Cutest Cat contest:

Every cat entered in the contest will be featured in a photo gallery on cleveland.com/best starting the week of Jan. 30.

After that, a selection panel from cleveland.com will choose the 100 finalists. The 100 Cutest Cat finalists will be announced in February, then our readers will vote in online polls to determine the Top 10 as well as the ultimate winner.

Look for more content in the coming weeks, including pictures and lots of videos of cute kitties.

We can't wait to see all the adorable cats in Greater Cleveland. More than 2,200 dogs were entered in cleveland.com's Cutest Dog contest last spring. Let's see if the cat lovers can top that number.

Notable: To be eligible for the Top 10, the cat's owner must be a resident of one of the following Northeast Ohio counties (Cuyahoga, Lorain, Medina, Summit, Portage, Lake and Geauga).
