Ozzie Roberts was born and raised in and around Manhattan. A member of the class of 1971 at Syracuse University, he was graduated with a BA degree in English Composition. He worked for three major magazines -- Life, Psychology Today and Ebony -- before beginning his career at the San Diego Union-Tribune on Feb.18, 1974. He has been a U-T staff writer and columnist.
