Can you believe these A-list movie stars have never won an Oscar?

Amy Adams, 44, has heard another name called in her acting category five times. The actress is nominated again this year for supporting actress in “Vice.” Maybe sixth time’s the charm? She’s also been nominated for seven BAFTAs, but never won one of those, either.

Since 2013, Bradley Cooper has been nominated for seven Oscars, including four as an actor: “Silver Linings Playbook,” “American Hustle,” “American Sniper” and now "A Star Is Born.” Cooper, 44, was snubbed in the directing category this year.

Why, yes, Willem Dafoe, 63, was just nominated for an Academy Award last year. And this year for “At Eternity’s Gate.” And also two other times. So he’s definitely an Oscar-nominated actor, but still not an Oscar winner.

Viggo Mortensen, 60, is another actor who’s a repeat nominee. He’s up for best actor in “Green Book” after losing in the category twice previously.

Sam Elliott, 74, who made his film debut in 1969 in “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” is nominated for his first Oscar this year for supporting actor in “A Star Is Born.

In 1994, Angela Bassett was nominated for best actress in “What’s Love Got to Do With It.” This year, the 60-year-old will be going back to the Oscars with her nominated movie “Black Panther,” but she hasn’t won an Oscar yet.

Another famous actor who’s been nominated but never won: Johnny Depp. The 55-year-old has been up for best actor three times.

Over the years, Tom Cruise, 56, has collected three Oscar nominations. He has won Golden Globes, but never Academy Awards.

Hard to believe she hasn’t won an Academy Award at this point, right? Michelle Williams, 38, has four Oscar acting nominations, and six Screen Actors Guild Award nominations, but is still waiting for her Oscar gold.

Another four-time nominee, Annette Bening, 60, has yet to win an Oscar. She's due, don’t you think?

Michelle Pfeiffer, 60, is someone you probably assumed had won an Oscar before. She’s been in the running for three awards, but hasn’t won any yet.

Michael Keaton, 67, has been up for one Oscar: in 2015 for best actor. The movie he was nominated for, “Birdman,” did win best film.

Remember when his breakout film “Slumdog Millionaire” won best picture in 2009? Eight years later, Dev Patel got an Academy Award nomination for “Lion.” The 28-year-old British-Indian actor hasn’t won, and sadly not many actors of Asian descent have: The best known is Ben Kingsley (whose father is Indian), who won best actor for “Gandhi.”

In the last eight years, Mark Ruffalo, 51, has been up for three acting Oscars. So far, he hasn’t had the opportunity to give an acceptance speech at the Academy Awards.

Another big star with three nominations, Joaquin Phoenix was in the running for his movies “The Master,” “Walk the Line” and “Gladiator.” The 44-year-old also has plenty more critically acclaimed performances that the Academy overlooked, like in “Her” and “You Were Never Really Here.

Though he continues to prove he’s worthy of awards recognition, Jake Gyllenhaal, 38, has never won an Academy Award. He’s been nominated once for supporting actor in “Brokeback Mountain.” 

Robert Downey Jr., 53, has been Oscar-nominated for playing Charlie Chaplin and (believe it or not) for playing a method actor who wears blackface in “Tropic Thunder.” He hasn’t won yet.
