Today (September 12) marked the return of The Great British Bake Off's ever-formidable Bread Week โ€“ and, as it turns out, it was also the most innuendo-heavy episode of Bake Off ever.

So far, at least.

Yep, not only did viewers get to see judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith have a quaint little chat about fingering, they were also treated to a penis made out of bread.

Oh sorry, we mean snail. Yes, that is definitely a snail.

But before we look at Julia's masterful phallus mollusc, we need to talk about Paul and Prue. Or Prue Paul's Drag Race, as we're now calling them (thanks to the genius that is Noel Fielding).

Explaining how to make the perfect cottage loaf as part of this week's technical challenge, Paul said: "It's all about making both of the balls quite tight.

"And the way you do that โ€“ and the way I do it โ€“ is just drive my finger right through to the tray underneath," he continued, innocently.

"Do you flour your finger?" Prue asked, with a glint in her eyes. "I could oil it," Paul offered.

And it only got better during the bake itself, when one baker described her own method of making that distinct cottage loaf shape.

"Two fingers, up and down like that," Stacey said. "That's the way Paul does it."

Our next dose of innuendo came from this week's showstopper challenge, which required the bakers to make a coloured bread structure.

This week's Star Baker Julia's structure was supposed to be a "Snail under a Mushroom", but we're not exactly sure if we can see it. Can you?

Now excuse us while we go for a lie down.

The Great British Bake Off continues with Caramel Week (!) next Tuesday (September 19) on Channel 4 at 8pm.
