The lowdown: Frenship head coach Gery Joy anticipates one of his team’s toughest competitions when it take on El Paso Franklin.

“They’re a consistent solid group. We played them in the playoffs three years ago,” he said. “They are generally, if not No.1, No. 2 in El Paso. They are a pretty athletic group and an organized group. They do a good job with them.”

The Lady Tigers enter the contest hot off their sixth straight shutout against Keller Timber Creek on Friday.

Against the Lady Falcons, Joy saw his squad take advantage of one of its biggest strengths — versatility and team depth. Frenship’s Brogan Ross, Natalie Jones, Aryal Garcia and Lubbock Christian University signee Allison Scott scored one goal apiece in the Lady Tigers’ 4-0 win over Keller Timber Creek.

“We had a tough game the other night that we won, now we have to get re-organized and kind of re-planned to play another team,” Joy said. “For us, it is really just kind of being mentally where we need to be and being focused and locked in. We know we are playing a good team. At this stage, everybody is really good.”

Focused, Joy said the Lady Tigers have a good chance to make program history for the second year in a row and advance past the regional quarterfinals.

The Lady Cougars defeated Arlington Martin, who eliminated Frenship last season, 2-0 in their area playoff game last week.
