Unlicensed Man Arrested After Crashing Head On Into Cop Car: SCPD

The driver and two officers were hospitalized after the crash on Wednesday night, police say.

WYANDANCH, NY - A Central Islip man was arrested after crashing head on into a cop car in Wyandanch on Wednesday night, according to Suffolk County Police.

Suffolk County Police last night arrested a man after he crashed his vehicle into a police car in Wyandanch.

James Gross, 44, was driving a 2018 Acura northbound on Mount Avenue when he crashed into a First Precinct patrol car that was travelling southbound at 9:35 p.m., police said.

Gross was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The two officers were transported to the same hospital, treated for minor injuries and released, police said.

Gross was arrested for an outstanding warrant from North Carolina, and was also charged with reckless driving and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
