Tiverton High Cancels Dance Over Threat: Police

TIVERTON, RI — A dance Friday night was cancelled at Tiverton High after a student made the threat, police said. Officers have determined there is no danger.

This was not the only threat made in connection with local schools. The Portsmouth schools around February vacation reported a rumor about a student planning to shoot up the school. Police investigated, said the rumor was unfounded but sent extra patrols to the school. Then on March 6, a Portsmouth home owner reported his AK-47 had been stolen. Police said they were treating the two cases as separate matters.
