Cathy Jean Thomas was born on August 16, 1943, in Powhatan, Alabama. She went to be with the Lord on July 11, 2018 after an extended illness.
She was a dedicated, faithful pianist and member of the New Home Baptist Church. She was an avid piano player with many years of experience in gospel music and played for numerous churches and congregations in Chattanooga and the surrounding areas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Emma Jean Ballard and Pearlie Mae Reese.
She leaves to cherish her memories: three sons; Andre L. Ballard, Sr., Marcus L. Thomas, Sr. and Terry J. Thomas, Sr.; brothers, Henry Ballard and Willie Ballard; sister, Christine Dobbins; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The body will lie in state on Tuesday, July 17, from 12–8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday, July 18, at New Home Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery.
