Stefan Jung and Jack Singer scored on penalty kicks in the semifinals of National Cup XV in Aurora, Colo., on Sunday to help lift the Marin FC 99 Blue boys team into the national championship game.
Marin FC defeated CSA Impact 00 Black from Cleveland 2-0 to clinch a spot in Monday’s 11 a.m. title game against Match Fit Academy FC from New Jersey.
Marin FC began the day in control of their group, needing some kind of a result against FC Florida, the team that knocked them out of the semifinals last year, to advance as group winner. Marin FC lost that game 1-0 but advanced to the semifinals as the top wildcard.
“Ourselves and this Miami team were probably the two best teams and us playing each other in the first round took a lot out of both teams,” Marin FC director of coaching Josh Kalkstein said.

Wilson is entering her junior year at USF and has also played for the North Bay Wave.

Pacifics fall
The San Rafael Pacifics minor-league independent baseball team came up with a pair of runs to tie the game in the bottom of the eighth inning but surrendered three runs in the 10th inning en route to a 7-5 home loss against Vallejo on Sunday.
The Pacifics (7-2, second half, 28-20 overall) tied the game at 4-4 following a wild pitch then a sacrifice fly by Chase Tucker. Vallejo (2-7, 17-31) retook the lead then San Rafael got within two runs in the 10th on an RBI groundout and had the tying run at the plate with one out.
Tucker had two hits and two RBIs. Danny Gonzalez also had two hits for the Pacifics. Starter Celson Polando allowed three runs on three hits and struck out eight in seven innings of work.
