Niki Taylor has credited blood donors with saving her life after a near-fatal 2001 car accident.

The supermodel and former Celebrity Apprentice contestant required over 100 units of donated blood following the crash and has never forgotten the "gift" of the experience.

Taylor told Parade: "I owe my life to blood donors. I'm forever grateful to people who donate. I always say it should have been the most devastating thing in my life, but to me it was a gift.

"I always think about which blood drive was going on in Georgia that day when that husband or mom or school teacher rolled up their sleeve and actually gave me a second chance at life. It's the ultimate gift of life, and I'm the one who was on the other end."

She added that the accident gave her a new lease on life, saying: "It gave me a chance to live my life differently. It gave me a chance to rebuild. It gave me a chance to hope again. It's a story about healing."

Taylor announced last month that she and husband Burney Lamar are expecting their fourth child and has said that she feels "so happy and blessed" to be expanding her family.
